APD 2026 Pioneers "Storytelling for Wealth Creation" via Pan-African Feature Film

The Africa Prosperity Dialogue (APD) 2026 concluded with a groundbreaking commitment to leverage Africa’s creative economy as a vehicle for

continental unity. A high-level discussion involving the Africa Prosperity Network (APN), the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), and the Africa Monologue Challenge (AMC) finalized plans for a maiden Pan-African feature film.

The project is envisioned as an annual flagship production that will serve as the commercial and cultural offshoot of the Africa Monologue Challenge.

Strategic Production Pillars

This initiative is designed to move beyond entertainment, acting as a "soft power" tool for intra-African trade and people-to-people integration.

The Principal Cast: The film will feature the 10 finalists of the AMC from 10 different African nations, ensuring a truly continental narrative.

Production Partnership: APN has pledged to serve as Associate Producers alongside the Uganda Communications Commission.

The Location: In a move to market the "Pearl of Africa," the film is proposed to be shot in Uganda, showcasing the country’s natural beauty to counteract negative external media narratives.

Inter-Agency Synergy: The National Film Authority (NFA) of Ghana has pledged full support, with NFA Executive Secretary Madam Kafui Danku planning a state visit to Uganda later in 2026 to deepen bilateral creative ties.

Rebranding the Continent through "Afro-Futurism"

Nana Dwomoh-Doyen Benjamin, President of the African Chamber of Content Producers, highlighted that the project aims to "rebrand Africa" by using authentic locations for high-value Afro-futuristic storytelling. This strategy aligns with APN’s "Make Africa Borderless Now" campaign, utilizing creative content to normalize the idea of a single African market.

Stakeholder    Key Contribution
APN    Financial and strategic backing as Associate Producers.
UCC (Uganda)    Providing location support and regulatory facilitation.
NFA (Ghana)    Technical collaboration and cross-border creative policy alignment.
AMC    Talent scouting and script development for the 10-nation cast.

The Bottom Line

By merging state institutions like the UCC and NFA with private entities like APN, the proposed film project aims to prove that African storytelling is not just a cultural asset but a multibillion-dollar engine for trade, tourism, and national rebranding.
